Working Out the Bicep Muscles
Bicep muscles are a holy grail for men. If you ask them which part of their body they would most like improved they would say the biceps. This is because these muscles are the ones that are seen most on a normal day. Wearing a t-shirt or tank top will display the bicep muscles.
There are many ways to work out the biceps. The most popular and well known is the bicep curl. This involves curling a barbell with both arms while standing, or a dumbell one arm at a time. This exercises is what we call an isolation exercising meaning it hits the biceps and not much more. It isolates the particular muscle group. There are many variations on the way a bicep curl can be performed.
The first is the range of motion used. Some people think it is beneficial to use heavier weight and only curl half way through the motion. The reasoning is lifting heavier weights will encourage more muscle growth. This is a valid argument but not definitively proven.
Super sets means doing 3 sets of curls in one go only the weights vary. The first set is done with the heaviest weight. As soon as this set is done the medium weight set is next. After that the lightest set is performed. This is done to completely exhaust the biceps leading to more muscle growth.
Which is the best way? Both variations are good for bicep muscle growth which is why it is best to do both. Mixing up the way you lift weights will stop your body from becoming accustomed to a certain variation and continue to grow.
